My trip to Staples today! (Includes links to the coupons)

Before coupons, this cost $22.79...

After coupons, only $10.46!
So I usually avoid Staples thinking they're overpriced and if I need paper for the printer or pens I can get much better deals at Wal-Mart or Target.  Well, I'm certainly glad I went today before the coupons expired!  These were items I needed anyway.  I got the following:

  • 1 Flip Flop Eraser set (for the prize box for my piano students)
  • 1 4-pack Uniball Fine point pens
  • 1 Chocolate lab notepad
  • 1 2-pack mini composition books
  • HP Multipurpose paper 500 sheets 
  • 1 Coupon expandable file
  • 3 Twisted Erasers (for the prize box)

Fake Coupons - please read

Loyal Barcode Butterfly subscriber, Pat S. from Clearwater, Florida wrote and asked me the following question: "How can I tell if a printable coupon is fraudulent?" The answer is not an easy one.  Coupon fraud is a crime that is punishable by fine and some have even been sentenced to prison for up to 5 years.   The best way to protect yourself against getting a fake coupon is to know where it's coming from.  There are several sites that are reliable sources such as Coupons.com, SmartSource.com, CouponNetwork.com, RedPlum.com and any manufacturer's website.  Be sure the coupon is not such a high value that's too good to be true.  When I first began couponing, I attended one of Kathy Spencer's (How to Shop for Free) classes .  She spoke in depth about coupon fraud and that she heard of someone who actually made a coupon for a free 50-inch HD TV.  Obviously, the store didn't accept the coupon and the guy was arrested on the spot for try

If you like shopping, have you ever thought about mystery shopping?  After my 2nd child was born, a good friend told me how she began shopping and getting paid for it.  Now, don't believe all those websites that tell you, you can make a full time income off this but there is definitely money to be made.  Here are some tips to becoming a successful mystery shopper: NEVER pay money to a company that promises you'll have access to thousands of shops.  There is at least one legitimate company out there who does ask for money but you can really find the information for free if you do the digging.   Make sure you only list the facts on your shopping reports.  The companies really aren't interested in your opinion but they do want to know exactly what happened when you conducted the shop.
